This time, we will show you how to create original ZEPETO items using the generative AI "Maison AI" provided by OpenFashion.

Important points to note
In this tutorial, we will be using ZEPETO's item template, so we won't be able to change the shape or add anything to it.
Please proceed with the idea that you are creating an original textile.

The patterns for the items are created using Maison AI's image generation function.
What is ZEPETO?
"ZEPETO" is a social app that allows users to easily generate 3D avatars from their facial photos, and enjoy makeup, dressing up, and communicating in a virtual space.
Since its release, the number of users has been steadily increasing, and as of March 2024, the number of users worldwide exceeds 460 million.
Image generation with Maison AI

Maison AI has an image generation function called "Image Generate."
This function is used to generate patterns.
(This blog uses Maison AI on a PC, but it can be used in the same way on a smartphone.)
Create a prompt
Once you log in to Maison AI, the first thing you need to do is create a prompt.
(If you already have an English prompt prepared, you can skip this step.)
Click "AI Chat"
Enter the prompt you want translated.
Image Generation
Once you have received the English translation, copy the English translation and click "Generate Image."
Paste the copied English translation prompt into the "Prompt" field and click the "Execute" button.
In this case, leave the "Image size" at "1024 x 1024".
Once you have created an image you like, place the cursor over the image and click "View larger."
Click "Download image".
This completes the first stage.
Save the downloaded image in the photo folder of your smartphone.
Reduce image size
Next, we’ll upload the generated image to ZEPETO, but since there’s a limit to the amount of image that can be uploaded, we’ll need to make some adjustments.
In Maison AI, the size is "1024 x 1024", but it will be resized to "512 x 512".
How to reduce the size of an image
1. Use the app
Photo Resize – Apps on Google Play
This app allows you to resize images in four units: pixels, millimeters, centimeters, and inches. After installing the above app, set the image size to 512 x 512.
2. Use shortcuts
If you have an iPhone, you can also use the Shortcuts app.
Upload images to ZEPETO
All you have to do is open ZEPETO and upload your image.

Once you open ZEPETO, tap the settings icon in the top right of your profile.
Tap "Become a creator"
Choose the item you want to create from the item templates.
This time I chose a hoodie.
Once you select an item, you will be taken to the page shown above, where you can tap "Edit" → "Upload".
Select the image you just created from the folder and press "OK".
Now that the texture has been applied, tap "Next".
We will decide the details of the item.
Decide on the "item name", "category", "price", etc.
Once you have entered everything, tap "Submit."

Once the review is complete in a few days, you will be able to start selling your items.
Arranged version: Add a logo to your chest
Now that I've made it this far, I'd like to add a logo in addition to a pattern.
Generate logo
First, create a logo.
Let's take advantage of Maison AI's store function.
From the left sidebar, click "Store," then click "Image Generation" under "Logo Design."
We will rewrite the prompt based on the original input. This time, we generated a black bird logo.
Make the background transparent in Photoshop. (You can make the background transparent in any way you like.)
Download template
Next, prepare the item template. Log in to ZEPETO.
Tap "Become a Creator" in ZEPETO's settings and select the item you want to make. (This is the same process as when you uploaded the textile.)
Then, tap "Edit" and then "Download template."
Edit images
The template has been saved in the photo folder, so we will use it as a basis to edit the image.
You can use any photo editing app, so please use the one you are comfortable with.
I will use Illustrator this time.
Place your logo according to the downloaded template.
This time I added a logo to the pocket part.
Next, place the textile pattern.
We increased the transparency so that the logo is easier to see.
Upload
Upload the edited image to ZEPETO.
The steps are the same as above.

Even if you're someone who wants to make clothes with ZEPETO but doesn't have the skills, you can easily create them by simply resizing the images using Maison AI's image generation function.
You can also use Illustrator to create clothes that are closer to your ideal pattern.
